About

Baltimore. Information literacy. Coffee.

Baltimore Wikipedians is organized by Baltimore-area archivists interested in promoting information literacy, advocating for libraries and archives, and building a more knowledgeable community. While we encourage local archivists, librarians, and cultural heritage professionals to get involved in our efforts, the group is open to anyone who is interested.

We could do this at home by ourselves, but we’d rather do it together.

We host monthly Wiki-Salons where we meet in person to edit and create articles of our choosing (laptop and basic knowledge of Wikipedia are required for this type of meet up). Soon we will host Wikipedia Workshops where we go over the basics of Wikipedia contributing as well as subject-based edit-a-thons. Knowledge of Wikipedia are not required for the Wikipedia Workshops but a laptop is required.

You can help us contribute by editing and creating articles, adding links to special collections finding aids and other primary sources, and adding images to Wikimedia Commons.

For more information about what we’re working on, check out our meet up page on Wikipedia.
